We're Due for a Catch Up Post

It's been just over two years since I shared photos of our progress on the house, and the time's flown by. Last we updated, we were preparing for french drains to be installed in our basement. We'll pick up there.
Basement Updates Complete
The winter of 2021 was no joke. The team at USA Waterproofing showed up and did the job well. Now, we have drains around the perimeter of the basement and a sump pump setup to keep water moving out and away. The utility sink in the last few pictures is a cool remnant of the house (check out the faucet) and it was dangerously heavy to move. We ended up hiring three people to assist us in putting it on our makeshift stand after its original warped and couldn't be used any more.
Front Yard Fencing
We live on a busy street and wanted to add a fence to the front yard as another barrier of protection in case Eartha decided to run out of the house. The timeline to completion was long, but we're happy with the clean, sturdy end result. We also swapped out the front door awning with a matching metal one.
Garage Addition
The early pandemic gave us a lot of time to think about future projects, but the winter weather of early 2021 made adding a garage a priority. Better Built Garages had our structure up in a day, and it was another half day for the electrician to run the wiring. This added much-welcomed storage for tools and equipment we've acquired, plus (of course) snow protection for the car and less area to clear out. Plus, our downspout runs to our water barrel now!
Work in 2022
We kept busy with lots of interior tweaks to things, and we also had our house insulated by USA Insulation (it wasn't planned to hire two companies with USA in their names, but here we are). Smaller projects included:
VESA mounting our TV to the wall in the living room
Turning the basement stairwell into gallery space,
Giving blood to the house in turn for a stainless steel backsplash behind the oven + a vented range hood
Setting up a proper guest / COVID quarantine space upstairs
Making the upstairs stairwell wall into an art display
Making an elder millennial den in the basement where we can watch old VHS tapes
Backyard Bonus Photos
We love being out in our backyard pretty much all year round. Here are photos of some of the highlights.
